015: Exploring Kingdom Contours: Practical Insights for Missional Living
In this kickoff episode, Brian Johnson is joined by Jeremy Chambers and Monica Chambers to launch a new eight-week companion series exploring their book, Kingdom Contours.
“If you really want to lead me towards these dynamics, I am willing to get on your wave and just let your wave take me.”
The goal is simple: if you’ve heard the six elements of movement DNA (mDNA) and thought, “Okay… but what do we do with this?”, this series is designed to bring the ideas down from the clouds into everyday practices.
Jeremy and Monica share the story behind the book’s development: while planting and coaching a growing microchurch network in Richmond, they wanted a single, coherent resource that gathered the “core ingredients” they kept pulling from across many books. The result is a practical guide anchored in mDNA, organized around Foundations, Paradigms, and Tools—so leaders can discern what matters most, shift how they see, and experiment faithfully in their real context.
You’ll also hear why the title “Contours” matters: the kingdom has terrain—thresholds, slopes, and landmarks—and wise guidance helps leaders navigate what’s happening, where they are, and where Jesus might be leading next (with a forward by Mike Frost that captures this mountain-guide picture beautifully).
This episode ends with an invitation: begin with silence and surrender—listening for what God has already been stirring, and letting go of assumptions about success, metrics, and control before stepping into a movemental way of life.
