016: Kingdom Contours • Jesus is Lord
In this second episode of the 100Movements Podcast Kingdom Contours series, Brian Johnson sits down again with Jeremy Chambers and Monica Chambers to unpack the first and most foundational mDNA element: Jesus Is Lord.
They challenge a common Western drift: we often treat “Jesus is Lord” as a familiar phrase we tip our hat to—then rush ahead to strategy, methodology, or mission. But the Chambers insist this is where we stay until it’s real. If Jesus isn’t truly central, something else will be—and whatever replaces Jesus eventually shapes our communities, our leadership, and our fatigue.
“If Jesus isn’t central, then something else is.”
A key theme in this episode is the difference between Jesus as Savior and Jesus as Lord. They aren’t opposed, but they aren’t the same. “Lordship” confronts our need for control and our tendency to turn Jesus into an accessory—useful for outcomes, secondary to our plans.
From there, the conversation expands into a paradigm shift: the Christian God is Trinitarian—not distant spirituality, but a community of love (Father, Son, Spirit). When we recover this reality, prayer, identity, and community life change. We’re no longer relating to an aloof God “out there,” but learning to live as people indwelt by the Spirit, held by the Father, and made alive in Christ.
The episode closes with a practical invitation: don’t just agree with the Trinity intellectually—meditate on it. Notice resistance. Pay attention to the “box” you’ve placed God in. And do that work in community, where different backgrounds and emphases can sharpen and heal our understanding.
